Letter from one of our Military Suicide Awareness Founders,
Kelly Uvanile

Picture
Hello!

Welcome! My name is Kelly Uvanile, wife of a combat veteran and Co-Founder of Military Suicide Awareness/#22ADAY. My husband joined the United State Army as a Cavalry Scout with a tour to Afghanistan. I have seen the effects PTSD and TBI has on our brave men and women who are returning home from overseas and seen the battle they face, as well as the effects it has on their families.

After seeing the effects and seeing the many men and women losing their battles to PTSD, I made a promise to myself and to my husband that I would do whatever I could to help our veterans and help prevent military suicides. To do so, I have joined up with the Military Veteran Project with a mission of ending military suicide through treatment and research. Since 2012, the Military Veteran Project has been able to have 46 events assisting over 17,328 veterans and family members, all because of the nearly 2,736 volunteers that dedicated their time to the cause. Awareness is a key component, and the first step, in creating change. Subsequently, Military Suicide Awareness/#22ADAY was founded and is the natural next step of the Military Veteran Project to bring the awareness to our communities to the reality of military suicides.

By choosing to become Military Suicide Awareness Ambassadors, you have taken a VERY IMPORTANT step in raising awareness throughout our communities of military suicides. Not only are you bringing awareness to your community of military suicide, but you are also giving a voice to the vast network of volunteers, donors and participants involved in the work of Military Veteran Project and its mission to prevent military suicides through research and treatment.

Should you have any questions, please contact me directly. Please click HERE to join our MSA Facebook Group.  Once again, welcome to our family and thank you for choosing to take a very important step in creating awareness and helping our mission to prevent military suicides!

Thankfully,

Kelly Uvanile
