Founded in 2012 to carry on the dying wish of Melissa's husband SSG Jamie Jarboe to care for his fellow service members, Melissa and her team of volunteers have assisted thousands of veterans and military families. Not only is Valentine's Day a day for love, it is the day Jamie and Melissa were married vowing to spend the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately, on Jamie's third military deployment he was shot by a sniper, paralyzed from the chest down and fought for his life through over 100 surgical procedures and succumbed to his injuries March 21, 2012 the day after Melissa's birthday.

“Every year, instead of focusing on what our family has lost the day Jamie made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, we are able to focus on the positive change we are able to make in veterans lives around the world and in our local communities. Valentines Day is a day of expressing the love you have for someone special in your life, I believe we can all agree each and every one of our veterans deserve to feel the love we have for the sacrifices they and their families have made. Making a heartfelt decorated card or a donating a treatment for military suicide prevention shows our veterans they are not forgotten nor are they alone to face the new battle against suicide on American soil." Said Jarboe.
