Who We Are
The Military Veteran Project (MVP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to prevent military suicide through education, training, and community-based efforts. We operate proactively by strengthening protective factors, expanding awareness, and building networks of support around veterans and military families across Kansas. We do not provide medical treatment or crisis intervention services. We focus on prevention through education, connection, and community impact. Founded by Melissa Jarboe after the loss of her husband, Sgt. Jamie Jarboe, MVP has grown into a national movement uniting volunteers, veterans, families, and partners in one shared mission to save lives. |

Our Story
The Military Veteran Project began with one family’s tragedy that became a movement of hope. After Sgt. Jamie Jarboe was injured in combat and later passed away due to complications, his wife, Melissa, turned her grief into action by carrying on the dying wish of her husband to care for his fellow soldiers, determined to carry on his wish and ensure that no other military family would have to experience that kind of loss again. A moment in life that she captured in her journal from 2011-2012 and later self published to share her journey.
