Military Deployment Support: How Kansas Communities Are Supporting Service Members Before They Leave

When military deployment orders arrive, life changes in an instant.

Many active duty and National Guard service members receive very little time to prepare before leaving home. In some cases, families may only have 24 to 72 hours to gather necessities, organize important documents, prepare emotionally, and spend precious final moments together before deployment.

At Military Veteran Project, we believe military deployment support should start long before crisis ever occurs.

Recently, members of the Kansas community stepped forward to help support deployed service members connected to the 190th Air Refueling Wing after rapid deployment orders were received. Through trusted community connections, volunteers and organizations worked together to help provide food items, comfort items, and care package supplies so military families could focus on one another during those final hours together.

This is exactly why Military Veteran Project continues building the Kansas Military Prevention Initiative.

Strong communities save lives.

When communities support military families during times of transition, stress, uncertainty, and deployment, it reduces isolation and reminds service members they are not alone.

What Is Military Deployment Support?

Military deployment support can include:

* Care package collections
* Food and hygiene items
* Community outreach
* Family support
* Peer connection
* Volunteer coordination
* Emotional support resources
* Veteran and military family referrals

Sometimes support is not complicated. Sometimes it simply looks like neighbors helping neighbors.

Kansas-Based. Community-Driven. Prevention-Focused.

Military Veteran Project is a Kansas-based nonprofit focused on preventing military suicide through education, training, and community impact.

Programs like the Kansas Military Prevention Initiative,
Guardian Network, Mission Reintegration, and Flags Forward work to strengthen community connection and support military families before they ever reach crisis.

Because behind every deployment is a family. And behind every number is a name.
