Military Hometown Heroes Banner Program

With respect and appreciation, thank you for your service!

SPONSORSHIP LEVELS

THE PROGRAM
Established as a joint project with the City of Topeka and Military Veteran Project to recognize, honor, and pay tribute to our local military service personnel.
Banners honoring our brave service men and women will be proudly displayed beginning Patriots Day (September 11, 2019 through Veterans Day throughout the Downtown of Topeka on Kansas Avenue as a way for our community to express our gratitude for their service to our country.
The program is administered through the Military Veteran Project.  Guidelines and information is available by contacting the MVP office at (785) 409-1310 or email contact@militaryveteranproject.org
After the designated display period, banners will be presented to the honoree (or applicant) at a City Council Meeting and resubmissions may be requested.

About The Banners

Banners will have 3inch pockets on top and bottom and will have the Service Person’s name, image, military branch and rank. Banner types are:

Eligibility
​The individual to be recognized must reside or have resided in the City of Topeka and call Topeka their hometown. Individuals must have served in any of the following branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard) and must also meet one of the following conditions
  • Currently be active service member
  • Be an honorably discharged veteran
  • Died in the line of duty​
Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first– served basis by the Military Veteran Project selection committee.
Once the application is verified and funding for the banner has been received, MVP will notify the applicant of the approval and create the banner.
Banners will be installed annually to coincide with September 11 and November 11 recognition events. The applicant will be mailed a notification letter via email of when the banner will be installed honoring the military service person or veteran.

The Military Hometown Heroes of Topeka Banner Program is administered by the Military Veteran Project.
**The City of Topeka nor Military Veteran Project is not responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to age, vandalism, or any acts of nature including high winds. Any loss or damage to an installed banner will be handled at the discretion of the City.
