Honor a loved one lost by suicide
Every day in America, veterans are lost to suicide.
They once stood ready to serve.
They carried responsibility, discipline, and sacrifice.

Some carried wounds no one could see.
The #22ADay Movement exists to honor their lives --
and to fund steady, structured suicide prevention for those still fighting.

You are not funding awareness.
You are funding prevention.

FOUNDER REFLECTION

“When my husband, SSG Jamie Jarboe, was wounded in Afghanistan, I witnessed firsthand how visible and invisible wounds shape military families.

The #22ADay Movement is rooted in the belief that prevention must be steady, structured, and sustained — so fewer families experience preventable loss.”

— Melissa D. Jarboe
Founder & Executive Director

Remember. Protect. Prevent.

22 is not just a number.
It represents sons.
Daughters.
Spouses.
Parents.
Friends.

It represents families forever changed.
We remember them with dignity.
And we work so fewer families face that loss.

THE 22 WE HONORWith family permission, we remember veterans lost to suicide.
Their lives mattered.
Their service mattered.
Their stories matter.

WHY PREVENTION MATTERS
Suicide prevention is not a single moment of intervention.
It is a system of support built before crisis escalates.
At Military Veteran Project, prevention includes:
• Community-based suicide prevention education
• Guardian peer training programs
• Outreach partnerships across Kansas and beyond
• Navigation and referral support
• Strengthening protective factors before isolation deepens

Prevention is quiet work.
But it saves lives.

HOW PREVENTION WORKS

1️⃣ Early Awareness
Education reduces stigma and strengthens protective factors.

2️⃣ Community Training
Guardian programs equip individuals to recognize warning signs and respond confidently.

3️⃣ Early Navigation
Veterans and families are connected to appropriate care before crisis becomes fatal.

This is structured prevention — not reaction.
WHY MILITARY VETERAN PROJECT

Since 2012, Military Veteran Project has:

• Served veterans and families across multiple states
• Delivered prevention education and outreach
• Built partnerships with medical and community providers
• Focused on early intervention before crisis escalates

We are committed to strengthening prevention efforts in Kansas while continuing to support veterans nationally.

This work is steady.

It is structured.

And it requires sustained support.
